What is depression? Depression is a serious condition that is affecting more and more people everyday. Depression is not isolated to adults. Teen depression is becoming a bigger problem as well. Teenage depression is a serious issue that is the cause of more teenage suicides occurring everyday.

Sleeping is often difficult, you may suffer from aches and pains that seem to have no cause and you might feel as though your life is simply passing you by. Because the symptoms are so great and serious many therapists and professionals assess patients for depression with a depression test to determine the seriousness of the depression level in their patients.

When a person suffers from depression or clinical depression there are many different forms that it can take. For example, biopolar depression occurs when a person experiences at least one high or manic period during a regular depression period. One the other hand, manic depression is a situation where a person swings from high to low emotions. One minute the person might feel manic or high and then he can then feel low and depressed the next minute. A person can also suffer from postpartum depression. Post partum depression occurs after a woman gives birth. Sometimes a woman can suddenly feel like she has lost her life, does not feel ready for taking care of a newborn baby and cannot take care of her child. This as well as the other types of depression are extremely serious and must be treated right away.

Depression treatment is handled in many different ways depending on therapeutic background and professional value system. For example, some therapists believe that depression medication is one of the very best ways to treat depression while other people believe that talk therapy is more effective. Others prefer to turn to herbal supplements and mind body treatments.
