Constipation
Constipation is a condition in which a person has had less than three bowel movements per week. When a person is able to have a bowel movement, it is typically small, dry, difficult to eliminate and often hard. Some more symptoms of constipation are that it can even be painful and people often feel bloated and like they have a full bowel movement, but are unable to eliminate it. Therefore, relieving constipation is something that is not only something a person will want to do immediately; it is something that must be done to help keep a person healthy.
It is important to know the causes of constipation. Constipation is caused when the colon has too much water absorption and when the colon contractions are slow. This can occur when a person is not eating enough fiber, certain medications can play a role, laxatives have been abused, and dehydration can cause constipation. Foods that cause constipation are milk, high fatty foods and meat.
It is important to also keep in mind that constipation in children is very common. Because children are not watching their diets and tend to care very little about what they are eating, it is important that parents closely monitor their children’s diets for them.
