It is good to understand and know what to expect during the phases of menopause. The early stages of menopause of the pre menopause stage of menopause is when a woman starts to notice irregular periods, but has not yet experienced any of the typical menopausal symptoms. The perimenopause stage or luteal phase of menopause typically lasts from one to two years, but has been known to last as long as ten years. It is during this new phase menopause begins to slowly set in as the ovaries begin to produce less and less eggs. A woman’s body also produces less testosterone, androgen, and progesterone during this part of the menopausal stages. In addition, during this phase a woman begins to experience hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness due to the decrease in estrogen levels.
